Does anyone know of a front-end loader attachment that can create the same effect as a box blade or Harrow?..."Ripping teeth"? With only having a JD 4100 20hp, I don't have the muscle that a much larger loader would have. I need to loosen hard pack dirt, similiar to what a Box blade or Harrow would do. Before the bucket can more easily move/scoop/level the dirt. A Backhoe would be Overkill, not available for a 4100,not that I would buy one if it was available. This application would be perfect for either a box blade, or a Harrow type unit if the area(s) were clear. Problem is, neither of these will work well, due to unmoveable obsticles(trees/sidewalk surrounding one area/ect). It would be extremely cumbersome to manuever the tractor & Harrow/box blade into these areas. Note:For the guys who buy based upon Color and not application, a larger or different tractor is not an option.

I have had both a gear drive and hydrostatic tractor in the 25-26 hp range. I can stall the engine on my gear tractor working the bucket into a pile of dirt, but not as easy I could stall my old hydro tractor. I was told by tractor dealer thatthe application of forward pedal on the transmission along with working the loaderat the same time was just more than the tractor could handle. That is not to say you are going to stall the engine everytime. After having both I will not havea loader tractor with hydrostatic transmission. One other gripe I have is withNew Holland and Cub Cadet. Why in the world did they put the brake pedals on the same side as the Hydro pedal? John Deere had this figured out a long time ago. You can't hold the pedal down and use your turning brakes at the same time. Orat least you can't do it without it being really awkward. My former JD 855 had theforward/reverse pedals on the right side with a master brake pedal over them. That pedal was to stop the tractor. On the left side the separate right left pedalswere located so that you could use the brakes to pivot turn. ....

Try contacting Carver Equipment, WWW.carverequipment.com They sell a tooth bar which bolts onto the bucket for digging in hard soils. I beleive the cost is 320 plus 15 shipping. Two bolts to put it on or take it off. I plan on ordering one myself.Carver does deal in Orange (my choice) but I'm sure he would only charge a 50 percent premium for green. Now seriously I'm sure if he has one to fit your bucket he'll be happy to work with you.Rememebr adding teeth to the bucket is how the industrial loaders increase their ability to dig in hard soils. I think they told me that it would increase your ability to fill the bucket by 25 to 35 percent.Good luck and tell us how you make out. ....

It makes my little 16HP Yanmar think it is all grown up :-) I'll send you a private message and seeif we can get one made for the Yanmar. Thanks for bringing this up. Roger L ....
